Holly's Grandfather and Photographer for the New York World-Telegram & The Sun from 1948-1967
So many people inquire about my favorite artist, and without a doubt, it is my grandfather, Roger Higgins. Although I never had the chance to meet him, his iconic photographs graced the walls of my childhood home, and his artistic legacy continues to inspire me. Sadly, many of Roger's images have been lost, destroyed, or remain uncredited; however, a few of his slides and negatives still exist, untouched and unseen by the public. I am fortunate enough to possess that small box filled with his remarkable work. One day, it is my dream to hold an exhibition featuring my own art alongside my grandfather's, highlighting the same locations captured years apart—first through his film camera and later through my DSLR. Scanned directly from the original slides developed in Roger Higgins' personal basement darkroom, the photographs below remain unretouched, showcasing the imperfections of film photography.
